Waste Collection

The City of Frankfort Division of Solid Waste provides waste collection services for residential units not exceeding 8 units per plot.

City personnel will empty containers according to a regular schedule.

Containers

Wheeled trash and recycle containers with an approximate capacity of 64 or 96 gallons shall be provided by the city to each dwelling unit qualifying for residential service at no initial cost.

Dispose of your garbage in the container provided by the City of Frankfort. Make sure the lid is closed, without packing your garbage too tightly.

These containers are the property of the City and are assigned to the dwelling unit. Damaged or stolen containers will be replaced upon request. The property owner is responsible for keeping the container clean.

Placement

Containers must be at your curbside the night before or by 7 a.m. on your scheduled service day and removed from the public right of way that evening.

For collection, place the container as close as possible to the curb or roadside, not on the street. Make sure the container is at least 3 feet from:

  • Light posts
  • Mailboxes
  • Parked cars
  • Trees

The handle and lid hinge should face your residence. Please ensure the lid is closed to prevent damage to cart(s).

If physical conditions at your residence prohibit proper cart placement, please contact Solid Waste to discuss additional options.

Requesting a Different Size Cart

The property owner may exchange the trash cart for a cart of a different size upon payment of a $75 service charge to the City. Changing the size of the recycle cart is no cost.

Property owners requesting to switch their roll-out cart size at curbside may do so at any time by contacting the Public Works Department. The property owner must pay the $75 service charge with either check, cash, or credit card (2.95% fee charged for credit card payments). Once the request is received, Solid Waste personnel will deliver the replacement cart and remove the existing cart on the regularly scheduled collection day.

Payments can be made in person at:
